The book deal

Not long ago I was dropping hints that a book deal was in the pipeline. It’s pretty well all sorted out now, so I can fill you in on the details.

Mike Pywell and I are co-authoring The Essential Guide to Working for Yourself. The commission is from Which?, the London-based publisher of consumer information and howto guides.

OK, so it’s not The Brothers Karamazov, but I’m looking forward to it nonetheless. The copy deadline is June 1st, and all the initial publicity has already been sent out - which seems to be tempting fate a little, given that all that exists of the book so far are the words “working for yourself is…”. Still, only 59,996 to go.

I was very gratified to note that the contract details film and stage rights, so if Stephen Sondheim wants to write Working For Yourself: The Musical all the legal stuff is covered.
