Apologies if your RSS reader is now bunged up with my test posts - I’ve just been working on ways to deal with scrapers. The initial lines of defence I outlined the other day weren’t as effective as I’d hoped, as it seems my scraper was dragging posts straight off my feed rather than using a bot.

I’ve now installed Stephen Cronin’s FeedHeaderEntry plugin, which plants a copyright notice at the top of every feed post. I’ve also set WP to only deliver summaries in the feeds, so anyone scraping them won’t get the full juice.

This is going to lead to a slightly clunkier experience for RSS subscribers. Sorry about that, folks, but as I said earlier, I can afford to have dodgy geezers from Kiev filching my hard work.

BTW, the official feed address is now www.billhilton.biz/blog/feed - I’ll switch off the Feedburner URL tomorrow. I might redirect to FB again soon, as the stats are useful, but I need to get my head round my anti-splogging tactics first.
