A blog about blogging… but a good one

It’s not often I recommend blogs about blogging, as I find the whole internet-marketing-via-blogs schtick a bit wearisome: bloggers writing for wannabe bloggers about how to make money by becoming a blogger.

They tend to start off saying interesting stuff, but find it difficult to sustain a flow of ideas. So the authors resort to vaguely inspirational, gnomic utterances that aren’t much use to anyone.

There are a few honourable exceptions: Darren Rowse’s Problogger is excellent, as is Brian Clark’s Copyblogger - which is more generally about copywriting, but covers a lot of blogging angles. Why? because their authors write with strong angles and have the brains and imagination to keep coming up with fresh ideas.

Today, I’ve found another good one. Caroline Middlebrook’s blog about earning her living online is excellent, not least because she’s open about her dislike of ’sleazy marketing tactics’. The whole thing is worth it for this post about the growth in her RSS subscribers.

Go Caroline! (Her Twitter Guide is worth a look, too.)
